The Ultimate in Exotic Home Design:

Taking a beautiful form of bamboo over a wrought iron frame, this elegant piece is clothed in a light shade made from the leaves of the cocoa tree. Created with comprehensive fair trade practices, Eangee's lighting fixtures are both beautiful and well constructed, with carefully thought out designs and intriguing artistry. Few practical home design pieces come so close to capturing a sense of natural inspiration, and do so by such socially responsible means.

The amazing lamp shade material is refined through a process of drying and fossilizing cocoa leaves that lasts more than four months and sees about 20% of the leaves survive the ordeal. Cocoa leaves are thoroughly dried throughout most of that period, then hand rubbed to remove the chlorophyll, leaving only the leaf's skeletal form. This form is stained with organic dye, carefully placed on a heat resistant backing, and then hand trimmed before receiving a coat of sealant to maintain integrity.

All of this beauty is attached to a powder-coated wrought iron frame, ensuring that the entire presentation remains rigid and stable as any formidable fixture should.

Eangee supports comprehensive fair trade practices that include following up with the artisans who make these products to ensure they receive decent wages, education, health care, and good housing.

Eangee supports sustainable materials in every product, including hand-treated cocoa leaves, abaca rope, nito vine, durian fruit fiber, and found wood.

Note that a specific variety of bamboo has been selected to withstand drier climates and resist splitting. Bamboo elements are bound in abaca twine as an added measure of safety, although the occurrence of splitting is expected to be extremely rare and, ultimately, will not affect the structural integrity of the wrought iron frame, or any other part of the lamp.
